Common oral restorations

Dental implants: Implants are the strongest and most long-lasting restorations. They are made from titanium and dental-grade ceramic, which replace the tooth root and crown, respectively. Since they are placed directly in the jawbone, they offer excellent stability and strength and wouldn’t get displaced when you bite or chew food.

Dental bridges: Bridges are prosthetic tooth replacements made from dental-grade ceramic. They are made from a combination of a solid prosthetic tooth and crowns on either side to hold the tooth stably in position.

Dental crowns: Crowns are cap-like structures that cover a tooth entirely. They are used to make structural and aesthetic changes to teeth that are broken, cracked, chipped, too weak to sustain by themselves, or severely worn out.

Veneers: Veneers are extremely thin restorations that are placed on the frontal surface of the teeth and bonded firmly using dental adhesives. They are primarily used for cosmetic purposes but also provide strength to a damaged tooth.

Fillings: Fillings are made from dental-grade ceramic or tooth-colored composite resin. The dentist prepares them by matching the material with the color of the adjoining teeth. Once applied to the cavity, it will be shaped accordingly and hardened using a suitable curing light.

What are the advantages of tooth-colored restorations?

  • They are highly customizable in terms of color, texture, contour, and translucency. This makes them indistinguishable.
  • They are quite long-lasting, thanks to the excellent durability and strength of dental-grade ceramic or composite resin.
  • They are resistant to staining. However, it is best to avoid chewing tobacco, consuming a lot of beverages or colored foods, etc. to keep them looking as good as new for longer.
  • Since they are custom-fabricated according to the contour of your teeth, they offer excellent fit and comfort.
