KöR Teeth Whitening Removes Years’ Worth of Tooth Stains

Have you ever noticed how much your smile changes over the years? The appearance of your smile is affected by a number of factors, including your diet and your genetics. But there are things you can do to help keep your teeth looking their best for as long as possible. For example, professional teeth whitening helps remove years of stains from your teeth in just minutes.

At PS Dental, we use the KöR whitening system, which is one of the most effective forms of bleaching available. It works by lightening the enamel’s surface, which removes deep-set stains, revealing the whiter tooth that lies just beneath the surface. Best of all, it only takes about two hours to complete the entire treatment. You can leave our office with teeth that are up to eight shades whiter.

How does KöR work?

KöR is an in-office whitening procedure that can remove years of tooth stains from coffee, wine, smoking, or age. The whitening gel contains a proprietary formula with potassium nitrate and fluoride to reduce sensitivity and protect enamel while bleaching away teeth stains.

A custom-fitted mouth tray is used to hold the gel against the teeth and keep the whitening solution on your teeth for as long as possible. Oxygen molecules in the gel penetrate deep into the enamel to lift out deep stains that are caused by exposure to food or drinks over time. It takes about an hour for the treatment to be completed.

Patients should avoid eating, drinking, or rinsing for at least 30 minutes following the treatment. Then they will rinse their mouth to remove the whitening solution and finish with a sensitivity-reducing fluoride treatment to help restore enamel and prevent tooth sensitivity in the future. Depending on the amount of discoloration and desired results, a patient may need anywhere from 3 to 10 whitening sessions to reach their ideal shade.

For patients with sensitive teeth, we offer a desensitizing gel that can be applied to reduce tooth sensitivity prior to the whitening process. Following the whitening treatment, patients can opt to receive a fluoride treatment to strengthen the enamel and prevent future staining.
